Geek Squad has also found themselves in legal hot water on several occasions regarding data theft and privacy concerns. In 2013, a young woman sued Best Buy when a few Geek Squad employees stole nudes from her personal computer and redistributed them online and in as recent as 2018, it was revealed that the FBI had been paying Geek Squad informants. Although the reason was to identify pedophiles, the execution received backlash.
